In September of 2001 Pleasure Island Dock Company was born. In Our first year we manufactured just 8,000 feet of docks. We did not have the national marketing of the larger dock company's nor the reputation. We soon found out that word of mouth was all we needed for our marketing campaign. At our first boat show of 2003 we sold 9,000 feet of docks, this was more docks than we had sold in our entire first year. 2003 was a great year we sold over 28,000 feet of docks.

2004 was and even better year for our little dock company (which was no longer just a little company). We sold over 50,000 feet of docks. This was a 76% increase from the previous year. Again with no marketing we relied on happy customers telling their neighbors how satisfied they we with our products along with the quality and stability of our dock system.

The off season between 2004 and 2005 was a tempting one for our company. We had a national products representative come to us asking to represent our products nation wide. They were very impressed with our products and our quality. This was a great opportunity for us but we decided that in order to keep control of our quality and to be more in touch with our consumer that we would stay as a local manufacturer. We had accomplished our goal of building one of the best trussed style docks in the industry.

The 2005 season was yet another record year. Our sales increased almost 10% to 54,000 feet of docks, including many happy customers who were adding on to their existing dock. As well as neighbors of existing dock owners who have seen the stability and durability of our made in Maine dock systems.

We are committed to the dock business and we are committed to the Maine consumer. We want to supply Maine with the best dock available and with better service. We have shipped many dock systems outside of the state but our dealer base and our target area will always remain the State of Maine.
